Unfortunately, eligibility for many forms of funding often excludes those who need the most tailored resources. Common barriers to eligibility include stringent GPA requirements or enrollment in rigidly structured programs, which do not account for the varying needs of returning or adult learners.
Compliance Traps and Audit Risks
Navigating compliance can further complicate funding applications. For programs designed to provide individualized support, adherence to institutional audit protocols is crucial yet challenging. Risks may arise if programs fail to meet federally mandated guidelines for educational quality or accessibility. For example, if a mentoring program does not track participant outcomes effectively, this may lead to disqualification from receiving funds.
What Will NOT Be Funded
It's imperative to be aware of what types of initiatives will not receive funding. Direct assistance for tuition or stipends for non-traditional students without a comprehensive support system or mentorship criteria will not be supported. Additionally, stand-alone workshops that fail to provide ongoing engagement or measurable outcomes cannot be funded.
